2024 Senior A Football Championship

How’s that unlucky? Eire Og(relegated now) and Ballincollig are among the weaker senior sides. There’s no such thing as an unlucky relegation IMO. There’s enough games to get an elusive win to get out of trouble.

I think they’ve gone up a level and did win the Division One league. Credit to them for battling back from that relegation. I read Niall Coakley has said they’ve players planning to travel next year so that could be an issue for them.
They need a complete buy in if the want to compete up tge grades

What Knocknagree have done is unbelievable but lads when these current crop of players go they are in serious trouble, they have nothing coming up through the younger grades. They could slip right back down to junior as fast as they came up once some of these players pack it in. It's been a golden period of football for them. Good to know that they werent a million miles of premier senior football and contested two finals in three years.

All the more reason to enjoy the ride.

That’s the way it goes with smaller clubs.

Cloyne, Newtown, Cill na Martra, Delaneys, St Catherines, Ballingeary, Kiskeam have all, or are currently, punching well above their weight population wise down through the years.

Newcestown are premier in both grades and as far as i know there’s only one school in the parish. There’s probably 50+ clubs in Cork bigger than Loughmore-Castleliney and they’ve won numerous senior doubles in Tipp.

As said above Knock should enjoy their time cos its very hard sustaining it without a big population

It’s only natural for success and good teams to come in sporadic cycles for smaller clubs with small populations.

Knocknagree(and others you’ve mentioned) might fall again but you can’t think like that either. Enjoy the success while it’s there because many clubs don’t get that at all ever. Plenty of clubs find a way to stay in grades too even when short on quality. What is very noticeable this season in particular is that every grade is after levelling out an awful lot and the work done on the system within Cork GAA is finally coming to fruition. All the finals were really closely fought and most of them were of good quality too.

Likes of Newtown cloyne knocknagree newcestown and haven should be example how to run clubs . Small rural areas and a great buy in

Agreed. The clubs that try to combine both codes also deserve a load of credit.

It’s very hard to do both with a small pick especially with the 6 group games in 8 weeks.

I think Knocknagree age profile is still relatively good for them to challenge again for next couple of years
A few of their top players are coming to the end of their time. They won't be easily replaced. I think If there is one thing Knocknagree need to do it's to focus on their fitness. That's needs to be brought up to another level. The two Senior A Finals they lost they couldn't match their opponents on fitness. I know that takes time but they need to take that up a notch if they want to win this grade. No easy wins again next year with Eire Og, Killshannig, Dohenys, Cill na Matra, Kanturk knocking around the group.
