2024 Premier Senior Football Championship

You'd think after the beating they got last from Valley's and the woeful affair v clon , they'd have done something to rectify matters on lots of levels. Haven will win the County easily v the barrs. Hard to say who the other 2 semi finalists will be ..easier to say whom it won't be ie Eire og , Ballincollig, Ross
The Barrs will win it.

Been saying it for along time time now but the standard of football at PS is very poor and bar the Haven and the Barrs the rest are only making up the numbers, none of the other 10 teams wouldnt get within an asses roar of winning a county (maybe Nemo but even they've gone back. Saw one Senior A, one Intermediate A and two junior A games this weekend and to be honest the best football was at Inter A and Junior A...teams went out with the intention of winning the games and weren't afraid to lose possession and go back and regain it again or weren't afraid to take high percentage shots even if they went wide...

There are 3 sides at the top of the SF, who are way ahead of the rest. That’s actually the normal type of thing in nearly every team sport. You have a few more clubs that are middle of the pack like Ballincollig & Carbury. The rest are on a merry go round of relegation to and promotion from Senior A.

In terms of SF being enjoyable to watch I totally agree and SF is turgid stuff. It’s a mirror of the inter county game, with all the same awful characteristics, club maybe just a year behind in the carry on.
The further down the club grades you go the less tactical, structured and controlled the game is. On average, Players aren’t as good skill, pace and power wise and aren’t conditioned physically or mentally to the same level either. It’s less formulaic.
This gives us spectators a totally different game to watch. I’m saying with a long time that you see more long range points kicked in Junior football then you do at senior.
The rule changes are so badly needed.

Last year it was someone on here I think who said the county stage of the junior championship is the most entertaining competition across the county. 80 Proper amateur club sides playing decent football go at it hammer and tongs with 1 winner.

Genuine Question, what is it that makes The Haven a Top team?

I have seen the a few times over the last few years and they have never really impressed me but they still seem to get the results. Current County Champs and been in either final or SF each of the last 4 years.

Is it player quality or as JBS says , tactics or physical conditioning or mental conditioning?

What is it?

I think they have it all. Tactics, physical & mental conditioning. After seeing them Sat v Clon and last year v clon also, in my opinion they have improved more. Or are other clubs slipping in standards? James McCarthy did amazing work with them the last few years. He's a fantastic coach / manager and his successor has got a team in their prime and they are pushing on the whole time to improve. The Clon v Ross game will be huge for both Clubs. One would have to say Clon will win. Ross can't score. I think Newcestown will be there at latter stages of the competition with the haven , barrs nemo .

Any truth in the rumour that Clon are appealing the red card their new wing forward received in the haven match. Heard the wrong man got the card but I was at the ame and they didn't seem to put up too much of a protest at the card.

Clon don’t play wing forwards?
They’ll be surely be going more defensive and trying to keep Carbury’s score down this year. No way Clon can let them score 6 points again this year.

🤣🤣🤣, that will be a huge challenge to keep Carbery from scoring 🤣🤣🤣
I'd say more of the same crap ..you'd hope clon will go out and play like they did against Castlehaven . If its like the game in Ballineen last year , God help us.
If Ross don't get at least z draw they will be in serious serious danger of relegation. St Michael's were poor .

I was at the game as well, never a red card , referee and linesman erred in judgement. On saying that Castlehaven were far the better team, more organised and better structure
