2024 Intermediate A Football Championship

I was at the Adrigole Gabriel’s game so I’ll give my piece on it. There was a massive breeze all game suiting the beara men in the 1st half and Gabriel’s in the 2nd. From the off you could tell these teams have seen plenty of each other in the recent years as they were getting stuck into each other from the start to the end. Nothing dirty I might add just plenty of aggression. Gabriel’s were definitely happier at half time despite being down a point knowing they’d have a gale behind them in the second. Adrigole rlly took a bit too long to start with the wind going 15 mins without a score I think I read. Second half Adrigole rlly wanted it more I think. There fitness seemed impressive as they outscored gabriels despite the gale wind. Serious championship feel to this game both sets of players and supporters alike roaring after every score and turnover. Gabriel’s will take beating but think they need to come up with a more varied kickout. Kelleher midfield is some fielder of a ball but it can’t be the only option and once Adrigole copped it they started to win a good amount of the kickouts. Adrigole as many others have said will have a rattle at this county and I think the most impressive part is that they are in a semi without there main forward David Harrington who’s missed the 1st 3 games

Adrigole are an extremely overrated outfit. Seen them play a few times. They had a strong league and have improved a lot but are very weak at the back. Mitchelstown completely dominated them in last years semi final. It was 8-2 at half time and should have been 16-2. Mitchelstown missed the world of easy chances. Ended up in extra time after a pathetic second half display from Mitchelstown but they again dominated the extra time and in the end were convincing winners. I can’t understand the hype behind them. Boherbue , Glanmire and Mitchelstown a lot stronger but with this grade. Who knows!!

Overrated is harsh. Definitely can be beaten by any of the teams mentioned no doubt but the aforementioned teams are not a lot stronger. it’s about as even as can be with the exception of Mitchelstown who on paper rlly should progress at this stage

I heard the Adrigole camp are very confident of going all the way this year. They also believe they wouldn’t be far off winning the premier intermediate within a couple of seasons. Be interesting to see how things pan out.

On paper mitchelstown should be away above this grade but there missing something
Cathail O Mahoney, Mark Keane, Sean Walsh, Shane Beston, Lorcan Finn and Sean O’ Sullivan all current and former intercounty footballers playing with Mitchelstown and they can’t get over the line. Have been very unlucky with injuries over the years but on paper they are far better than what this grade has to offer. They’ve beaten Cil Na Matra, Kanturk, Rochchapel, Aghabullgue and Kilshannig over the last 3/4/5 years, and won well in some of those games. They really are the Harry Kane of Intermediate!

Met a Boherbue man today and he doesn’t see any team beating them in the knockout stage. He said half of the halftime team talk at the weekend was about whether or not they’d head to cork or Killarney for day 2 of the wedding.
To be fair a Boberbue man would say Boberbue will win. They won’t be far off it all the same
