2024 Intermediate A Football Championship

Mitchelstown proved much stronger in the end. Took them awhile to get motoring but once they did it never looked like turning the other way. Mitchelstown were also missing one of their star players in Sean Walsh who was missing from midfield was also out. Micheal Walsh was also on the bench for them.

I was impressed with Dave Pyne and John O Sullivan for Glanworth but they ran out of legs. Mark Keane and Cathail O Mahoney impressed in parts but could improve. Cormac Hyland kept Darragh O’ Brien quiet for Glanworth. Very Hard to call this grade. Mitchelstown/ Adrigole and Boherbue will all have a very good crack off it

Heard boherbue were missing a few
Players cos of a wedding one player was best man and few others close friends but miss the match cos they were qualified anyway they also had a hassle over a wedding last year in the quather final
Against dromtarriffe don’t know what’s going on there
Was at the game. Boher had the same starting 15, give or take one. Heard glanmire missing 5 due to a wedding but wouldn’t be sure about that either.

Mitchelstown were very open at the back and they don't seem to be putting up huge scores like they used to be. They will be there or thereabouts for the county but they are certainly beatable.
17 total scores was the most kicked yesterday in the grade apart from Barrs. Glanworth had only conceded 17 points altogether before that game.

Glanworth got the softest goal going and a few soft frees. Never looked like getting another goal, so not sure how open they were at back.

Ballinora made them look beatable to be fair but not sure Glanworth necessarily did.

Mitchelstown are definitely open at the back. I've seen them twice this year and their backs are great at going forward but the amount of space they leave behind is punishable if up against a good forward line. Glanworth's full forward line consisted of two 38 year olds and a 44 year old and they still caused Mitchelstown trouble. At the other end, while 17 points was good scoring, in previous campaigns, Mitchelstown were putting up scores like 4-12 and 2-18. They haven't put up big scores like that in a while. On paper, Mitchelstown certainly have the best team in the competition but we've been saying that the last 5 years.

They will have a job if they meet adrigole in the final

Beara winning the Premier 1 Minor Football Final in 2021 seems to be paying off. Castletownbere holding their own at Premier Intermediate. Adrigole making inroads at Intermediate level, winning the Division 5 league this year. And Urhan showing very well at Premier Junior level.

Someone told me lately they have in the region of 8 former cork minors playing . That's fair going for a place of about 700 hundred people. Pity beara division team was not playing this year would really be a boost to that 2021 minor team that beat the haven handy
