Lads if it came to a Rockies v Barrs final I have a sneaky feeling the Barrs will struggle to beat the Rockies again
Barrs blew Rockies away physically in the second half of the group game. You would expect that they won't allow that to happen again, IF they meet again and thats a big if.. Barrs have been best team in it so far. Rockies have limped into the semis but have a never say die attitude. their first touch and striking was very poor today but they hung in and look to be fairly fit coming strong at the end of nearly all the matches they've played. I agree about the hard hitting. There were some hard ones today. John Cashman's shoulder over on the sideline was inspirational. John Cronin went through a fella, very legitimately, at one stage too.

second game not as good, im off to moks to make sure of my place inside the door the night of the final,

R&B won't like that kind of confidence jimmy. He's been trying to talk down the barrs chances all season for some reason. Looking very like a barrs double now, except I suppose the rockies never seem to know when they're beaten. Should be a cracker.

What a day!
Going to start with my own fellas, so so proud to see our club produce the goods when it counts, we have been waiting far too long to have a team capable of taking on anyone, we now have them. Todays conditions didn’t at all suit our fellas but by god did they step up to the plate.
I’m nearly as happy the Rockies won as we did, well nearly 😀. No harm to the players but I am sick to death of watching players on teams who have two opportunities to win a county medal and who are exempt from relegation, come together from an area bigger than a lot of counties and knock out clubs who are nuturing their players from 5 years of age to one day hopefully win a senior county. If Imokilly won today I would have been physically sick watching it. And now they are flogging the greatest prospect to come through in Cork since Hoggy, did anyone ever hear of burnout? It has to stop. Let the divisions play for their own championship early in the year but no more double jobbing. Or make a rule that anyone who plays for their division is inegible to play championship with their club. Let’s see how many they get out then

And get rid of the penalty shoot out. A shocking way to decide a game. Play first score wins and you will see a true winner not some soccer style one

On to the semis and we could have two cracking games, Erins Own and Rockies will be a physical battle but I think the Rockies will have a bit more hurling. We are really up against it against Newtown, they will spend the next 2 weeks like they have spent the last 30, football free. Things are coming thick and fast for us now on both fronts and I hope it doesn’t catch up with us

Wow - no wonder there aren't that many players cumming through ;)

You're dead right about penalty shoot outs though - terribly unfair way to go out of the championship for ANY team. What would have been wrong with playing another period of extra time say 5 minutes aside, or even a midweek replay under flood lights irrespective of what teams were involved?

I think it'll be a Rockies v Barrs final. For the Barrs sake I hope they don't get the stage fright the Glen unfortunately suffered from when they made it to a county final for the first time in many years some time back with all they hype that surrounded it.

While I agree with letting the game flow Stokes ignored too many obvious fouls

Same on Friday night in the Glen and Newtown game. All for letting it flow but you have to blow obvious frees. Seems clear that word has come down from on high to let things go in the Cork Senior Championship. It'll take time to strike the right balance I think. Long term that will hopefully help the intercounty team where the intercounty scene refs seem to let a lot more go than Cork club refs used to.
