Cork u20 Hurling 2024

Great article and a lot of things that were said on here were mentioned. This team might have won and dominated up to last Friday but once you take out the physical players like O’Connor, Nyhan, Walsh you are in trouble . You can’t do anything about O’Connor but look at the size of Nyhan at minor. Losing these 3 players has made a serious difference.

Fancy that 🤣
They agree with people on here so it must be a "great" article.
Always suspect when their opinion pieces, sorry "analysis",mirror closely what's said on here.
Guess it's not called The Echo for nothing.
Bound to get buy in when you revert to the "big tall physical lads needed" narrative.

Personally found it lacking in any kind of keen insight, precisely because it just rehashed stuff I've read here a million times!

Most haven’t a clue.
Corks situation very straight forward.. the appropriate environment doesn’t exist within Cork hurling structures to allow players to develop their game from age 13 to age 23.
Rebel Og board think they have the capacity to identify out of 4000 the top 36 hurlers in Cork at age 15 and that those are the bunch to focus coaching on for the next 3 years and that these 36 15 year olds will provide the future stars of Cork hurling.
These are players who have only played competitively 3 years!
If anyone stoped for a moment and thought about it all theyd realise how absurd that is

Well said she'd be 150 lads at ever age level why numbers are cut so fast no sure how coach's can know if a 14 year doesn't have it if tge players are similar one lad makes it the others doesn't. It's madness doesn't it come down to cost ..time etc

Are we saying that essentially the problem is the numbers playing are too high for current structure and system to reliably identify players for the future?
That the cull at age15 carries too high a risk as it's improbable that a players true potential is apparent at the age the pool is thinned out?
There is sense in that reasoning.

Huge week for Cork Hurling with seniors & 20s facing knock out hurling and it could be a very long summer if results go against us. The 20s are playing challenge Tonight , any places up for grabs??
