Thank GOD for Libertas

and what pro-EU English speaking countries would American corporations move to so - socialist fucking Britain, a country thats so fucked up that British companies are fleeing to Dublin!!???

wake the fuck up. we'll do well out of this No vote. It'll give us leverage and power far beyond our size.

Eh,no.It will turn us into an EU non-factor on a par with Lithuania and Turkey,we're at the smallies table from now on being given fish fingers and chips while the adults get the big steak and are allowed speak.

couldnt give a shit. if everyone sitting at the table is an anti-democratic fascist cunt with delusions of grandeur about a "European empire" then no thanks. i'm glad we decided to fuck off to another table with people who actually believe in democracy (hello Prague... thanks for the support!)

and Turkey isnt in the EU.

Wait till December.

Yup let's reject the single best thing that has happened to Irish society, that must be a good idea alright.

this was approval pre-Lisbon, no doubt because the political classes thought we'd say yes to it..

and thus , bye bye Irish non-alignment.

"The Minister for Defence, Mr. Willie O’Dea TD has secured formal Cabinet approval today for Ireland’s participation in an EU Battlegroup. "

triple-lock guarantee my fucking arse.

thats what they had in mind folks. off to war for the fucking EU.

and did you know that the Lisbon Treaty would also re-introduce the death penalty for political dissent?

And that the EU has set up a Ministry for "Internal Security", which meets in secret and has turned down freedom of information requests?

"The EU already has an embryonic police force (Europol), a courts arm (Eurojust), a paramilitary riot squad (European Gendarmerie Force), a European Arrest Warrant, and will now, under Lisbon, have a European public prosecutor and what could become an interior ministry (COSI) to pull it all together."

Article 2 – Death penalty in time of war

A State may make provision in its law for the death penalty in respect of acts committed in time of war or of imminent threat of war such penalty shall be applied only in the instances laid down in the law and in accordance with its provisions. The State shall communicate to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe the relevant provisions of that law.

I hope organisations like Libertas - will take reponsibility when industry re-locates to more pro EU countries or when we loose foriegn direct investment.
The Lisbon treaty had nothing to do with abortion, conscription or the Irish Health system.

I see nothing wrong with putting it to the people again at a later date.

Why would they do that?

I work for an American company, the only reason they would move from here would be a corporation tax change.

Carry on with your scaremongering though, it makes the no voters happier.

The French and the Dutch have signed up to Lisbon. Their "No" votes achieved precious little.

The Lisbon treaty is not dead. It will cost this country jobs and it will be put again to the Irish public.

It had nothing to do with abortion, taxation, defence, prostitution, the irish health system etc.

People had their say & SF/IRA and the "No" people won.

When this country starts loosing jobs - I hope that SF/IRA and the "No" people have the answers.

The people have made their beds.

Yet more shite, stop will ya.

Nobody who voted no had their votes swayed by scaremongering, definitely not....i dunno say the majority of working class.Perish the thought.

That is all i can say. Completely unbalanced argument for the Yes campaign with nearly every institution in the country on their side. Huge amount of resources and power behind them.

Libertas, the ideal of a fair democracy and the majority of the electorate being treated like dirt were the only things in favour of the No campaign.

We nearly got railroaded into this treaty .... how will they reshuffle it the next time round. And will they even contemplate that people want a fair transparent system for the all new, singing and dancing, brand spanking new europe.

Do they even get that? Do they realise that the whole thing is shady as fuck and until the whole attitude changes people will still vote the same way.

They are already starting with the scare tactics and piling on the guilt trip. Only until they come back with something that even seems like it might be good for Ireland not to mind Europe will anything change.

The arrival of Karl Rove-style electioneering in this country is immensely worrying and the shadowy Ganley and his highly successful and carefully targeted campaign of misdirection has certainly delivered an 900 volt electric shock to the elected government of this country who negotiated this Treaty on behalf of the electorate and who seem, in retrospect, to have behaved with enormous naivety in expecting a shoo-in. I'm reminded of what I think was a comment by Rove just after John Kerry was nominated by the Democrats in 2004: "When we're finished with him, people won't know what side he fought on", and so it was with Ganley's campaign.

Here's an indymedia article on Ganley which suggests that his head is so far up the backside of the US military that only the soles of his feet are visible:
