Paris like most Capital cities is overpriced and patchy.
The place has really gone downhill imo, major problems with refugees making many parts of the city practically no go areas.

Places like Bordeaux and La Rochelle offer better quality and value for money.

La Rochelle is great value so really missing that area this year for the annual visit and it has some amazing seafood (avoid the fast turnover restaurants on the quayside and head into the walkable city or go to the coast like Ile De Re). Bordeaux is excellent as are Lyon. Paris will be back on the food scene and they are toughening up on refugees at last as the middle classes have had enough but I now only fly there from Cork and get the train South from Montparnasse as quickly as possible.

Ate in Ballymaloe last year.

A buffet starter selection which I absolutely detested tbh. If I'm paying top whack for a meal I don't want to be queueing with a plate.

It was ok.
The famed dessert trolley offered a pretty mediocre selection. Wouldn't be in any rush back tbh.
