Are Fianna Fail finished ?

Seems most of the Fianna Fail bashers in this thread don't realize that the FG/Labour government are continuing with the same policies. Closing the same hospitals and schools, paying the same bondholders, propping up the same banks.

If you want to subscribe to the woolly drivvel that SF are shovelling, off you go, but put them in power and they'll do the same uturns as FG & Labour.

And just as FG & Labour knew in the general election that they would be doing the very things they were damning the outgoing FF government for doing, SF know there's only one way out of this mess, and it's not the policy of FF, FG or Labour, it's not even the policy of the troika, it's very simply the only show in town. Problem is there's no votes in saying that.

We're broke, we don't have any choice, hard as it is we have to swallow this medicine.

And FF were driving the bus when it crashed, but before you lynch them for that, remember everyone, that's E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E, in Irish politics outside of the FF government was screaming "Faster, Faster, Faster".

Yes, George Lee and David MacWilliams were ringing the warning bells, but they did not stand for election (before the crash). And how many votes do you think they'd have gotten if they stood in 2002 or 2007 on the platform of tax hikes and spending cuts that would have been required to avoid this mess?

Enjoy the Ard Fheis this weekend.

Hopefully FF will go the way of the PDs. Some of us were saying before the crash that it would all end in tears but while things were good no one wanted to hear it, plenty of those who were doing the derision at the time are now claiming they could see it coming which is obviously a lie

Pity the PDs were killed off, they could be a viable future coalition partner for FG, minimising the current lack of another moderate party on the more liberal side of the economic divide.

Great post

It seems the FF snakes in the grass still don't realise the fury that fuelled the kicking they got in GE 2011 came from the criminal, willful, incompetent and corrupt mismanagement of the country leading to the destruction of the economy, and not the inevitable austerity that flowed as a result.

This is a typical deliberate confusion of the events of the last five years by FF mouthpieces on the internet and in the media in general.

As for 'EVERYONE' shouting 'faster' at the hapless bus driver, I refer you to EVERY single budget rebuttal delivered by Richard Bruton from the opposition benches, in which, as FG finance spokesman, he consistently pointed out the grevious folly of runaway public spending based, in turn, on transactional taxes based on the construction sector.

So like I said langeroo, enjoy the Ard Fheis this weekend.

In fact, Joe Higgins et al were predicting this property crash in Ireland well in advance, and internationally were predicting the global crash.

Don't try this "we all partied" bullshit.
