I read somewhere, maybe it was here, that calling someone a rapist without a criminal conviction can actually be considered defamation.

In the absence of any court ruling it would be defamatory, but the civil verdict means it isn't.

Because it is a choice. You have to go to work to earn money. You don't have to go for a pint with a rapist.

I am not "calling him a rapist". He is a rapist.

It's the same thing. Because he is a rapist. You know this. Yet you would still go for a pint with him.

I think it is pretty reasonable to suggest that a rapist who has shown zero remorse for his actions should be a pariah.

But if you want to share a pint with him, off with you. Discuss with him if he enjoyed sexually assaulting a woman so violently that her tampon had to be surgically removed.
