Apocalypse now is the standard bearer really.

While excellent Eoin I think that Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" is better.

"Coming Home" is an excellent Vietnam film also.

While I don't rate Tom Cruise as an actor, "Born On The 4th Of July" isn't bad. It's based on the true story of Nam-vet. Ron Kovic. Bruce Springsteen's song "Born In The USA" is based on Kovic's life.
