Important bit is that mafia is actually running the country, highly corrupt society in general, probably 40-50 years behind Slovenia and Croatia who are the most advanced former Yugoslav countries

That's not fair Croatia is in the EU & € for a long time now and they were not as badly impacted as Serbia by the Yugoslav wars. Also it is good the EU is looking to extract resources from a European country instead of seeking it from another continent.

Balkans is a lot like Italy the northern countries like Croatia & Slovenia are more developed while further south, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania & Kosovo are the poorer countries. The divide in Italy between the Northern region & southern Messigorno. Serbia is in two camps.

Yes Bosnia & later Kosovo that is where the wars were mostly fought.

This comes in the backdrop of comments made that Serbia is a backward country & 40-50 years behind Croatia & Slovenia, my point is that the Yugoslav wars had a greater effect on Serbia than on both those countries plus both countries are in the EU & € as I pointed out not saying Croatia did not suffer but it is not on saying Serbia is a backwater of Europe.

Serbia's aspirations to attack and kill everyone around them, made them go through international sanctions. Very similar to what Russia is going through now. There was no war on Serbian soil, not 1 minute. Except NATO bombing, but that was during Kosovo war, not the Croatian and Bosnian war of independence.

We all know now that the breakup of Yugoslavia was a little more than just Serbia bad, there were war crimes on all sides, That is acknowledged now.
