Trouble in the Balkans

Bulgaria & Romania won't be able to join € zone as they both fail the criteria the ECB has announced.

Link is the Financial Times but it is behind a paywall for full story.
I think that the ECB have copped on to countries trying to join the euro who were printing money before the inspection from ECB officials.

You know what this means now that Bulgaria & Romania not allowed into € zone it means back to the drawing board for them though they are kept happy seeing as they are in NATO, priority turns to other Balkan countries & autonomous regions Serbia & Republika Sprska they are being charmed by Russia & China in the BRICS+ so this the EU will want to win them back over to membership along with the other Balkan countries & end the dispute with Kosovo, the Balkans has been neglected for ages but with immigration & the lithium deposits in Serbia this region is right back to being important again.

You really are a Walter Mitty or maybe closer to Bernie Murphy type character. Romania and Bulgaria sort your crap out and no doubt they will. This old waffle about them going back into arms of Russia after suffering worst regimes under Soviet Jackboot, a tad ridiculous. Romania has been huge supporter of arms to Ukraine given they have slight history of dealing with the Russians. Oh Lordy , Serbia is just a regional backwater harping back to the days of Great Yugoslavia when the Serbs were the ones who tore it apart. Oh and the BRICS oh yes.

You are a fool if you think Serbia is not a regional force. The EU don't want Russia & China to have a footprint right on Europe's border. The country has strong links with both Western Europe & Russia, a crossroads of cultures. It is so important that NATO still has a presence in the region to stop possible conflicts from breaking out, you know what they said was a backwater in the 60s & 70s Northern Ireland but since than it has come on in leaps & bounds. The same with Serbia & Republika Sprska.

Serbia only has Serbia to blame for becoming a regional backwater. Letting wannabe war criminals like Vucic and the rest dictating that their past becomes their future. Most of the other ex-Yugos have moved on and looking to the future. His squaring up to Kosovo every so often with NATO armed to the teeth at Camp Bondsteel just down the road is truely pathetic.Until Serbia moves on and buries their skeletons of the past like the rest they are going backwards fast.

Good news out of the Balkans the EU has reached an agreement with Serbia for lithium mining project the second biggest deposits in Europe used for batteries in electric vehicles, agreement reached with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz meeting Serbian President Alexandar Vučić in Belgrade.

The only "small" problem with this is that lithium is already being replaced by sodium in electric car batteries. First cars with sodium-ion batteries were released last year, and more and more manufacturers are starting using them from this year

Serbia has the second largest deposits of lithium in the Europe & this saves the EU getting it sourced from Latin America. Also did not know this until recently but Serbia's biggest trade partner is actually Germany very interesting.
