The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

Kerkez did alright. Loads of pace & tenacity but not the most technically gifyrd. Gives me feint echoes of Riise.

Huijsen was poor in the reverse fixture, but better yesterday. Doing very well to be holding his own in the PL at CB at such a young age. Big potential as he'll fill out physically & increase his nous a bit. He tried to outmuscle Mo at one stage & got shown up.

Is this a ready made YouTube reel for embedding in posts or something? Sounds great ?

Gravenberch’s transformation from flakey squad player to one of the most important players in the team in such a short space of time is incredible. A testament to good coaching and a player with quality and good attitude to turn it around quickly.

I thought the pen on Sat was soft in the sense that contact was minimal but it did fully lead to Gakpo tripping over in the box. It’s a free kick all day long outside the box.

I did think the luckiest moment in the game came when MacAllister was yellow carded and very soon after he kicked wildly at the ball, missed and made contact with a Bournemouth player. It should have been a second yellow. Slot thought the same because he took him off straight after it.

Fully agree. It's hard to get your head around. Gravenberch showed, in his more natural position, very little to give you confidence that he could cut it at PL level.

Then he takes on a new position and immediately becomes the best (uninjured) player in that position in the league.

Yep, there were replays on MOTD and elsewhere later in the day which showed the contact - which very clearly led to Gakpo losing his balance.

To a degree, if a defender gets caught wrong side and chooses to step across a player like that to try to cover then the onus is on him to avoid engineering the contact (however slight) which will impede the forward in full flow.

Cook's reaction to the pen was telling.

They never showed a replay from the conclusive angle, but it certainly looked that way

This theory seems a bit of a stretch, but you never know.

Never heard of any club doing that before but we all need to hold on to some semblance of hope.

It’s getting beyond worrying at this point. It’s hard to see how all 3 sign. That said, there’s no talk of Van Dijk or Salah going elsewhere either so maybe that’s a tell.
