Thought you'd be better than the above.

Over 2 IDs here I have repeatedly posted we need a new politics and at least one new party.
Our existing configuration perpetuates a paradigm created over a century ago. It is precisely because Ireland isn't Dev or the wilds of Kerry electrification that we need that new politics.

We need to politically move into the 21st century.
We need to shake off the plucky underdog, sure aren't we great all the same bullshit that this government passes off as governing.
We are a highly educated, confident, outward looking nation with resources a-plenty, natural, human , economic with a diplomatic weight well above our size.

We need a government with vision, guts, that are connected to people's lives and cares about making them better. A long term plan that inspires us and enables us to achieve things we can't conceive of yet.

Every other country takes that for granted maybe except Britain at the moment. The Norwegians and Swedes EXPECT it. The Icelandics actively chose their path for decades and plan their priorities in government accordingly. It's not hard. It's just that we are constrained by an outmoded politics no longer fit for purpose.
What exactly?

Flying cars?

Where exactly is this demand for a "New Party"? Renua with more tri-colours?

"New politics" for what?

A space program?

The people simply want good public services, prosperity, security, decent jobs and a place to live.

No alarms and no surprises.

They certainly will not rally around some chancer offering "new politics" or some "vision" as they are just simply too focking smart.

Ireland politically avoided all the nasty "isms" of the 20th century as well as the daft populism of the 21st as a mature stable democracy punching well above its weight.

Iceland has a population half the size of Cork and much less diversity or global connections for trade etc.

No point going on about the Scandinavian's (Ireland now has a Sovereign wealth fund like Norway) as they pay high taxes while the Irish just want the best of everything but refuse to pay for it or else they pay for it in huge sums and get worse outcomes (HSE) and we have politicians even telling them that they do not have to pay for things at all.

Why is it that those who want a border poll and keep telling us over and over that this is an awful place (A corrupt kip) constantly while at the same time wanting to convince others to join up in a United Ireland?

It always baffles me.

making massive assumptions that FF/G will be returned imo. Long road to travel yet and the wheels are shaky enough.
No gurantee the indos will go into government with FF/G. Some might but no gurantee they all will.
No gurantee either that FF/G will perform as the poll suggest. They don't tell the full story and FG are due a massive kicking imo.
Also a changed landscape in the constituency boundaries, which no one can quantify at this stage.
You could also see Leo or Mehole gone before the next election, which would have an impact,.

Not saying FF/G won't get back but its far from certain as portrayed here. .

Alright - you simply cannot address my points, I get it.

I didn't mention flying cars.
I didn't mention Renua or tricolours.
I didn't mention a border poll nor say this was an awful place or a corrupt kip or even mention a United Ireland.

I agree people want good public services, prosperity, security and decent jobs and a place to live.
3 of which I specifically did mention in my posts but you ignored.
I agree we are punching well above our weight.

Your obsession with replying to my posts by couching everything in UI speak or tricolours or Dev or comely maidens dancing at the crossroads tells me only one thing - you have no answer on the government's record over 10 years on waiting lists, trollies, healthcare, service provision for the most vulnerable, rental markets, evictions, housing crisis, homelessness, infrastructure paucity outside of Dublin etc etc etc.

And the reason you don't is because this government which has been FG and FF in multiple guises over the last 10 years or more have singularly failed at addressing them.

COP 27, reading ranking tables and the like do not solve an 80 year old sitting on a trolley for 72 hours in A&E because there is no bed for them. It simply doesn't.

But because you are so wedded to our existing political framework because it works for you and you want the current parties to continue in perpetuity in government you refuse to engage in any meaningful debate on alternatives or even other ideas without referencing SF, a UI, Dev or any of the things you seem to think my posts are espousing.

Grown up politics - providing the good public services, prosperity and decent jobs IS governing.
Those are the things my posts are about.

You want FG or FF in power in perpetuity fine - I notionally have no philosophical objection to that either - provided they are doing the job of governing and for the last 10 years all evidence is very much to the contrary.

Anyhow ..........we have been here before............

Based on polling and the parties and their parliamentary party memberships - unless something drastic happens it will FG FF and Indies.

What is this new politics? Nice slogan for a pole but what is the substance behind it, ideals, policies etc. By the way new parties have started over the last 30/40 years and gone by the wayside because the electorate didn't have the appetite for them.

I have repeatedly acknowledged huge issues in health and housing in particular so that is incorrect.

Mentioning Renua is that they are another example of failed manifestation of "New Politics" and like Libertas as there simply is no such thing anyway.

We have full employment, prosperity and decent jobs and the huge capacity issues like housing are a drag on the economy.

Reading tables and high rankings in education are hugely important as there will be enough smart people to address societal issues, fix problems and demand change where it is required.

50 years ago a lot of people simply bashed metal in to shape or picked turnips etc or had no work at all.

We now have more engineers and scientists:

If they were not "Governing" the country would be falling apart economically and societally anyway and that is simply not the case by any matrix*

Grown up politics is telling people the truth as to why they as politicians are complaining about the housing crisis while putting every obstacle in the way of delivering homes and all for political gain and that if people want improvement in public services that they will have to pay for them like in every other focking grown up developed country.

We have the only Socialists on Earth who are against property taxes for Gods sake.

I do not want FG or FF in power for perpetuity.

*Yes, there are problems etc corrupt kip etc..

It is just soundbite marketing nonsense.

People want better politics, policies and public services etc. and sure they all promise that anyway.

"the country would be falling apart economically and societally."
We have record homelessness.
We have a deficit of at least 250,000 homes.
We have record people using food banks.
People are deciding whether to heat their homes or eat.
Teachers say record numbers of kids are going to school hungry.
We have record inflation.
There were punch ups at beaches just last weekend and the City streets are dangerous during the day.
Not to mention far right fcukwits popping up everywhere and kids getting beaten up for being gay.
Are you for fcuking real??
What planet are you living on?

If the Green's punishment for trying to make this country a better place to live in, by tackling air pollution, promoting active travel and taking the climate crisis seriously, is to lose all their seats at the next election, that will be a very poor reflection on the intelligence of the Irish electorate.

Only an absolute simpleton could believe that a party of rural yahoos led by Michael Fitzmaurice could make a meaningful contribution to Irish politics.

The Greens are utterly useless. Even with Ryan at the top table we won't even make 29% of our climate targets.
Every party has a green strategy anyway.
They will be, rightfully, absolutely obliterated in the next general election.
Ryan is a clueless, dopey, psychopath.
