It’s supposed to be an in Independent role and not part of Programme for Government negotiations. TDs have a secret ballot and should not be influenced by the party leaders.

And I don’t regret that. They should have told the Independents to foxtrot Oscar but given political necessity I understand why they didn’t. Very disappointed because the CC has been excellent and Verona Murphy is particularly unsuitable to the role.
