Who will form the next government

No, they have to buy oil and gas etc on the international energy market like everybody else and any excess profits will be subject to a windfall tax.

Stacey can you explain how those companies who sold us all on their green wind-generation of electricity had their costs increase as dramatically as the prices that they're now charging.

Or how the ESB profits (that's after their increased costs are all deducted) have risen so dramatically?

A windfall tax is merely the government being given a fraction of the extra profits these companies are making on the backs of the consumer.

A windfall tax going to the Government to distribute to the consumer a mere fraction of the extra couple of thousand a year being charged to each consumer is scant consolation.

Their costs have not increased while a unit of energy has since February.

When prices go up profits go up and gas and oil etc is traded on the international market which is where they purchase it.

Jeez.

Maybe someone should have told her voting on the budget was next week and she could have stayed home for the weekend. If she has no time or does not trust her husband to look after the child maybe she has not the ability to serve her people of Clare and attend Clinics or serve and could have availed off the services available like Is available to Minister McAntee and many other women instead of of trying to get press coverage for basically nothing. 100k is your and you can’t organize people to look after your newborn for a few hours. Alright!!!
Many have posted on the PBF and totally correct in Barrett is worth huge money in assets that will be coming to him also Paul Murphy. Remember Clare Daly with the poor mouth she grew up with a family hugely invested in Aer Lingus and made big money. Big pink Mick Wallace pawed the people with huge debt and never lost a thing including his holiday house in Ballinskellig in Kerry but he owed was it 4 or more million to the tax payer but it’s all good now with Luke the Ming ( Ballyhea says No) works for him) O Flynn because they have all talk but no responsibility.
Sinn Féin were once around 14 percent in the polls when Adams left and now are the most popular party in Ireland.
If you want to be a populist in promised more social housing better health care better Ireland then I think it’s responsible to put that into a fiscal policy than the ideology fantasy world they live in where our immigrants are increasing and that adds to huge numbers already backed up in every aspect of basic society including Housing Health Care School and University ( College)
So they want to tax the Corporate like Aviation Leasing the pharmaceutical and IT industry more.
Trying it will hurt the economy so much ( and what basically got us true this COVID rebound) but everyone knows we are in the starting stage of a world wide recession that could be erratic.
I personally would like Sinn Féin to publish whom still is in the Army Council that’s still head of the Party without being elected and so many other questions like how does Gerry Adams have 3 houses in 3 different counties but was only taking the individual wage whilst in office.
The spokesman for wellness Pat Buckley from Midleton since being elected was arrested for drunken driving and he absolutely abused Gardaí whom called to him on behalf of neighbors complaining about the noise. He abuses them and that’s the next minister of welfare or well being.
Imagine up the Ra Cuinn from the deise as minister for health and by god the great Louise O Really Reilly as minister for transport. Peace Doherty on financial ministry’s and the peach of them all whom can’t debate even though talked a good good game this week at the ploughing could be the next minister of agriculture.
Exciting times ahead comedy gold.
What post does the woman get get that went on holiday and came back a TD tourism minister maybe.
By god it’s entertaining drama we live in and we should live it otherwise it will drive us crazy 😜

There is no army extant finbar. In the wake of the GFA there was no more need for the IRA given that Sinn Fein had signed up to "exclusively peaceful means" and the IRA got wound down nearly 20 years ago. There are those "dissident" Irish republicans who didn't agree with SF's stance on the GFA, saw it as a sell out, and continued the violence and called themselves The Real IRA and The Continuity IRA but "the IRA" aka "The Provisional IRA" of the Troubles is long gone. Many of the main movers have since died, but those that haven't aren't in any army council and aren't directing Sinn Fein on political strategy.

Like other Irish Political Parties Sinn Fein does have an Ard Comhairle, though some parties don't call it that, Fianna Fail do have an Ard Comhairle. The Labour Party have a group of "Advisors" as far as I know, think there are about 20 of them, drawn from various parts of Irish society but not voted in by the general public.

As with Fianna Fail Ard Comhairle the Sinn Fein Ard Comhairle are not voted in by the general public. They are voted in by the general party membership. And that's not unusual. Even the Tory Party for instance got to vote Liz Truss effectively into being the PM of the UK, without any reference to the general public, it was Tory voters only.

You can get to view the election of the SF Ard Comhairle on television if you're that interested. Recently RTE have been televising their Ard Fheiseanna.

As for Adams, and as you may know, I'm no particular fan of his, he was taking the industrial wage from his TD or MP salary, but like with other politicians in other parties he was also getting his expenses paid on top of that. And, unlike most other TDs or MPs, Gerry Adams was a very successful writer having had well over a dozen books published. I'm sure that would have been a very nice earner for him.

To be fair, it isn't that she didn't trust her partner to mind the baby, her partner is in Clare (where they live) with their other children. It isn't isn't that she didn't arrange childcare for her work hours, she did. This vote was at half 8 at night, after her child care facility closed.

Also, finding a childminder for a newborn baby is not an easy task, especially at short notice. You can't just hand them to any passing stranger like!

I don't like Violet Anne at all, and I am sure there is an element of grandstanding about this, but she makes a good point that the structures of the dail pay little to no heed to family commitments. The system is based on the notion that there is someone at home to take care of all the childcare needs of the politician.

No, no, no. Don't you dare interrupt their rant :ROFLMAO:
