The concrete levy introduced in the budget is causing friction among back benchers, Surely to god the quarry owners have to make a sizeable contribution,
This policy is going to run counter-productive to the Government's housing policy of delivering affordable new homes by both the public and private sector.

Why add to construction costs in an already inflationary period?

Put it off until construction inflation falls over the next 12-18 months?

This is exactly like being rear ended by a number of cars. You sue the guy that hit you and he sues the guy that hit him etc. etc. The homeowners sue the builder and the builder sues the concrete plant and they sue the quarry. WTF is so hard for the Government to not be able to go down this route? Once again the levy will hammer the innocent person (the new house builder) and big industry gets away Scott free. YCMIU. We're a nation of sheep.

The Govt. know full well that the quarry and concrete plant owners do not have €3 billion.

The taxpayer is always on the bloody hook.
 
Was up in Donegal early September ,the place is riddled with big and beautiful houses all over the place and i failed to see 1 house destroyed by mica
