In January of 2002 Cork promoters Phase 2 and Dublin's Bassbin colaborated to bring the Irish drum'n'bass
massive something that has become truly legendary. This something was JUNGLE REPUBLIC. A weekend of
non-stop drum'n'bass delivered by DJ's from every corner of the country on the island off Valentia off the
south west coast of Co. Kerry. Masterminded by Phase 2's Jet Li that event was such a success it was to
be followed by two more highly successful JUNGLE REPUBLIC's the following two years.
Now 8 years after the inception of JUNGLE REPUBLIC Phase 2 Recordings presents The JUNGLE REPUBLIC
Series. A series of releases that will feature tracks from DJs and Producers who represented their crews at
these monumental events.
For the first release the pride and joy of Irish drum'n'bass, Calibre, steps up with 'Pop'. 'Pop' is an upfront
synth led roller that could be described as techy. Not your usual Calibre style tune but nevertheless 'Pop'
has all the depth, soul and production skills that we have come to love and respect from one of Ireland's
greatest exports.
On the flipside Jet Li shows us his musical side with 'Lydia's Ryme'. Haunting female vocals swirl around an
array of delicate melodies which all sit perfectly on the crisp steppy beats and punchy bass.
Promos for this release will be on shelves from Monday 25th January 2010. Full release expected shortly
after. Phase 2 Recordings is distributed by Nu Urban Music.
In order to mark the release of this record Phase 2 in asssociation with Spectrum bring you the launch
party at The Good Bits in Dublin on Saturday 13th February. On the turntables for the evening will be
Calibre and Jet Li with support from Kodie. Admission is a recession busting, measly ol' €10!
