However, on a general point I think it is correct to say that inter county players (hurling and football) are role models for young children and their behaviour is important and does need to be looked at .

I don't agree that bad behaviour outside of the game can be ignored.
If a player goes out for a few drinks, they should be left in peace and not abused, slagged off, annoyed etc. If you are out for a quite drink, do you put up with nonsense from nomarks? They are not professional athletes, reactions sometimes are justified.
Now, any chance we stop going on about Gillane, it's embarrassing considering we have no angels when they are out on the piss either.
