the banks

Lads ive been standing in a queue for twenty min in the boi on south mall there is only one teller on. Surely they have enough money to employ another person behind the window??

Policy now in banks...
They dont want people coming to cash counters. They have machines for that.

Any staff are now used to take appointments so they can open accounts, lend money, sell products...

Basically, there is no money to be made from counter transactions so counter staff are scaled back big time.

Mayfield bank. Opposite the school must have been the worst in Ireland. One person at the counter. A line of people queued up to it and just as it was your turn to approach the counter. Some hore would walk in carrying a bag of loose change. He or she would skip the queue and walk up to the cashier you had been waiting an eternity to see.

There will be no banks before long.
Or post offices.
Once all the old people are dead.

Post Offices will survive. At least in the cities and big towns.
The banks would love to be able to outsource their counter transactions to post offices.
With technology this will happen sooner rather than later.
