The Aston Villa Thread

Poch went 14-4-2 in 20 games at the end of 2017/18 = 2.3 points per game.

MikOle would have done the same last season...there must be many more examples. Haven't a clue what this tweet is supposed to mean tbphwy.

My reading of it:

Assess the ppg record (of their entire spell at each club) of every manager who has managed at least 20 games during the spell

Anyone who averages over 2.0 ppg are listed in the opta tweet

Link below is similar, with a 50 game threshold

Ah yeah, ok, so it's basically pointless until Dick eventually gets bounced out of Villa when it all caves in.

Shambles in the second half. Need to buy in as injuries to key players will see us mid table at best. Great run in fairness, to what is a very unfashionable club in most people’s eyes

That’s a fair assessment Dan tbh Villa play that way and look it has cost us at times but consistent performances has been good up to the last 2 games. I would love to finish top four and Emery has been brilliant for the club so far so whilst we don’t have a squad strong enough yet it’s a process for good. From your perspective and Man Utd I know it’s been bad but when you have a 19 and 20 year old scoring to win from 2-0 down that has to be a positive imo

John McGinn must be the most low-key effective players in the PL.

Every time I see him play he is deceptively cute on the ball and wins more 50/50s than any man has a right to win.

Same again yesterday. Very "moneyball" in that sides will overlook or underestimate him based on his visuals, but will come out the other end of a 90min match with a much higher opinion of him.
