Ok, I have a memory of a woman being killed there alright in the mid 80s and of people being very shook up over it, for some reason I thought it was a female cyclist.
Ah no, cyclists in those days had more sense and were aware of how vulnerable they were.
I could be wrong about the cyclist part. I just remember it happening at a very busy time in town and the whole city centre being traumatised.

It must have been witnessed by a lot of people. Years earlier I think there was a youngster killed on Summerhill South by a truck. That was before my time.
A neighbour of mine, around 1973, He was getting a langy and fell under the truck
