If they charge fees the grant they get per pupil annually from the Department is less than if they dont ( its about €3k )
So if they stop funding most fee paying schools like Pres & Christains will stop charging and the State will pay more.
Pres & Christians survive because there are alot of Cork people willing to fork out around €5k per child to convince themselves they are 'posh'. They wont be paying €15k
The types who go to Gonzaga, Clongowes & Glenstal ( Actual Posh People ) will be able to afford the difference
