Russia's unjustifiable war of aggression in Ukraine

Was Navalny that much of a good guy?
Not especially. But he was opposed to Putin on an anti-corruption platform so of course he had to slip on a bar of soap.

Despite the long deep Russian history of suppressing any democracy or anti-corruption efforts by the public, there are, astonishingly, still a lot of people that actually want free elections. Navalny was of course a Russian nationalist and pretty far to the right culturally, but in Russia it is always going to be baby steps anyway.

Looks like the Europeans are finally starting to wake up and get serious about supplying Ua.

The penny has finally dropped that unless they get their act together, Ua will lose this war and the consequences will be dire.

If Ru isn't buried once and for all, then the cost of containment of the Axis of Evil will be huge and ongoing
You are seriously deluded if you think there is any chance of this happening.

A well supplied Ukraine may be able to eventually force a peace settlement or some form of Russian withdrawal, so yes a defeat for Russia but will they be buried once and for all, no they will merely have a bloody nose, similar to America in Vietnam and Afganistan, ultimately these defeats didn't matter a jot to the US in the general scheme of things.

Whether we like it or not Russia is here to stay be that in a more weakened state or not.

Sanctions you say, well after German et al exports have gone up by hundreds of per cent to the Stans its pretty obvious due to this back door, sanctions are having next to no effect.

While this is not my wish, I think the best Ukraine can hope for is Russia keeps the regions currently annexed and tbh it won't be too difficult to do that, as they all have a majority of Russian leaning citizens living there, remember Ukraine was at war with these regions for 7/8 years and got nowhere before the full scale invasion by Putin.

Couldn't find any English article but the EU police mission to Niger is returning imminently to Europe after the new Russian-aligned junta oversaw the raiding of their base and took their weapons.

According to the article the base was on one of the migration routes to Europe, so it could have a destabilising effect on Europe.

Russian involvement in Niger could also help to explain Silko's sudden knowledge of West African polygamous tribal practices.

AN's daughter today:

Dad, you have been an example to many around the world. Your optimism and infectious, sincere smile. Your curiosity and thirst for new knowledge. Your amazing ability to find a common language with everyone. Wit. Sense of humor. Persistence. The ability to choose words at the right moment (or a joke to relax everyone in a difficult situation). Your kindness. Faith in goodness, in yourself, in people.

Since childhood, you taught me to live by principles. Live with dignity. You gave your life for me, for my mother, for Zakhar, for Russia, and I promise you that I will live my life the way you taught me, to make you proud, and most importantly, with the same bright smile on my face

We simply don't know if superior Western Technology could defeat Ru Equipment has been drip fed up to now. Ua can't storm fortified defensive lines but it has proved itself very adept in inflicting huge losses on the Ru navy and airforce On that basis, if it got decent Equipment then it might win over a period of time. The big issue is Ua has lost too much manpower due to lack of equipment so maybe the ship has already sailed. Of course I'm aware that Ua can't invade Ru but it could force Putins overthrow Putin's military has already been badly exposed and his successor won't make the same mistakes IMO
