Radiohead - Poor Live

Live i think they are as someone said hit and miss. I have seen them three times. Twice i found a tad boring and really enjoyed the other time.

+1

found them a bit soulless tbh last 2 times live i caught them

saw them supporting the franks around 22 years ago and they were great then

certainly wouldn't pay 30-50 euro to see them again

Saw them in Malahide and it was incredible. Best thing was the In Rainbows stuff was so good that I completely forgot about Bends/OK Computer-era Radiohead so when they whipped out Just and Paranoid Android I nearly wet my pants

Just back from the gig in the O2. i kinda knew they would play mainly new stuff but couldn't believe that in a 24 song set they only played 2 songs from OK Computer and nothing from the Bends and Pablo Honey...some of the other stuff was good but some of it was a tad boring and self indulgent...crowd seemed pretty bored too!!!

I was at all 3 UK gigs, Manchester + 2 x O2 London gigs.

They have never, and hopefully will never, play the type of setlist you are describing.
Those two albums are over 15 years old, they have always concentrated on newer material. The standard set list was 24 tracks, and we got to see 35 ish tracks over the three gigs, which isn't bad at all.

It was not one bit boring for the crowd at the front, I was there for all 3 gigs.

Some great gems were played, London # 2 did have 2 Bends tracks, Street Spirit and Planet Telex were both played.
Other rarities across the 3 gigs were "I Might Be Wrong", "Spinning Plates" and "Hunting Bears" tacked on to the "National Anthem" in Manchester.
Nothing at all was played from Pablo Honey over the 3 gigs, a nod to this album at some stage would have been nice, but I am more interested in what they are doing now to be honest.

New & unreleased tracks, "Full Stop" , "Identikit" were played, as well as post "King Of Limbs" tracks "Staircase" & "The Daily Mail".

Was absolutely delighted with the gigs, great variety over the 3 gigs, and some rarities played. "Staircase" is an incredible track. Thom was in great form and dancing around like mad. Watching two drummers doing two different rthyms, was incredible to watch, but more importantly added to the execution of the tracks.

Just a point on the ticket selling - for gigs this size, the organisation in keeping the touts at bay(rather than on e-bay) was a masterclass in how it should be done and extremely effective. The wristband (practically no physical tickets)system was organised to perfection.

Flawless gigs, 10/10

was at a metallica gig in the 02 a few years back and they did a similar thing to stop touts. Ticket holders had to show the credit card and/or id to match the name on the ticket...simple idea and should be used for all gigs

This particular system was more different and much more effective, over 95% of ticket purchasers got no actual tickets.
When you colle ted them on the day of the gig, you had to have photo ID and the confirmation email with the same name as on the email confirmation, you were then immediately wrist banded on the spot. If you bought tickets from the Fanclub, you had to name both people attending at the time of purchase and were non transferable, Fanclub members who bought standing tickets were also in a special q, and got in first, and the fan club is completely free. The best operated distribution of tickets I have ever seen.

They also held back a few hundred tickets till a few weeks before the gigs and sold them only through their website to members. This is not completely unheard of, but it's fairly rare for bigger gigs.

i've seen radiohead a few times live, never disappointed tbh. from early days (not as early as jim's time with the franks, but saw them playing tunes from the bends when it came out in the olympia and they were excellent then) to malahide a couple of years ago.

they've been one of the most consistently good 'popular' bands of the last 20 years imo; evolving incrementally and always worth a punt when i've bought their new album. not many bands i can say that about over the same time frame.

ha, just remembered, at the end of the astoria gig where rh supported, the franks (or their helpers) threw into the crowd 100's of small plastic trains, boats and planes that were actually whistles

grabbed a few but ended up giving most of them to various girls who asked me for them (seemed to be tons of japanese girls there that night) and folk went off down tottenham court road etc whistling away

still have one in a box somewhere (a whistle i mean, not a japanese girl)

g'way outta that jim! whistles indeed - you have an international collection of music fans locked away in the vaults somewhere.

"and here's one from burkina faso"

"can i go home now?"

"no"
