@Nollaig O Muracu recently recommended a book by Bill Perkins called “Die with zero”
Now it’s very American sided and the author is an arrogant gimp but in it he says the ideal time for a parent to look after their kids is when the child is between 26-35.
The average age of receiving inheritance in the US is nearly 60.
Point being at 60 the inheritance is merely an icing on the cake. Giving a living inheritance to a child when they actually need it makes a lot more sense tbf.
My grandmother lived to be 97. If my own mother lives to that age I’ll be 75 on receiving an inheritance! We could be in the same nursing home!!
It’s not an issue for me as my parents don’t have much so we’ve already had the chat about them enjoying life to the fullest while they have their health.
That generation aren’t very financially literate tbh. Leaving cash in a credit union in an inflationary era is bonkers.
The €5k, €10k they have put away and earmarked for their grandkids will hardly buy the kids a new phone in 35 years time.
