Managed to extend it to three weeks. got return flight s for 1100.00 each. Have free accomodation so helps a lot.

Gold coast for one
back from Brisbane.

Avoid Surfers Paradise, it's an awful kip.
Do try and get out to Fraser Island, well worth it.

in Sydney you can do darling harbour/ sydney bridge in 1 day. A ferry taxi/cruise out to manley is a nice trip and is cheap.
Bus no 330 will take you out to Bondi and it leaves from the Main ferry port.
Take note that sydney is very expensive for eating/drinking

Better!
Gold Coast is generic.
Byron bay is a must.
I'd try to get above Brisbane to Fraiser island for a few days. It's worth it.

Yes. Avoid Gold Coast/Surfers Paradise...its a shithole!!

head north of Brisbane to the Sunshine coast and Fraser Island!!..stunning up there and far fewer aussie bogans and British & Irish backpackers on the lash

Its years since I was in Sydney but the eastern suburb beaches are amazing. Take the walk from Bondi to Coogee(Make sure to start your walk form the north end of Bondi beach for the full experience) The likes of tamarama and bronte are quieter beaches then Bondi and Clovelly bay is a great spot for a swim and some snorkelling!!

Stay away from Bondi Junction!!!

If you have a car in Sydney drive out to Watsons bay and check out other places in the eastern suburbs like Wollomoloo and Double Bay

Day trip to Manly on the ferry is nice form Darling Harbour. Again if you have a car explore the northern shore/beaches area..Some amazing little spots dotted all around the inner harbour
