Older drivers.......thoughts ?

Should the golden oldies have a rigorous test if they want to continue driving after a certain age?

There should be retests at certain ages of your life.

Something along the lines of 50 - 55 - 60 and maybe once you hit 65 a test every couple of years.

The system can't handle the current testing so doubt any of this will come into play anytime soon.

There should be a mandatory annual demolition derby for drivers over 65.

Winners get a renewed license.

Sure they got drivers licence without doing any tests or anything, I find them extremely dangerous, especially on country roads, they drive very fast adn then braking hard just before the junction. This demonstrates that they don't have a clue how to drive

Even basic health check would do, many of them can barely see

Older people should have set driving hours. 10am -12pm and 2pm - 4pm.

I think Irish elderly are the rare ones where it's a shame to wear glasses and hearing aids, I haven't seen that anywhere else
