It was emotive more than ignorance. She wasn’t targeting people that come here for a better life
She was targeting those that come here to murder and commit other crimes.
It wasn’t a random tweet, it was posted with context. The context being an immigrant murdering a child.

She lumped them all in together. This narrative of linking immigrants to crime feeds an impression in some that immigrants are driving an increase in crime which is simply not true.

No issue with the question being asked but it was an ambush. Even politicians are advised in advance of interviews what topics will be covered. He just landed it on her out of left field which was very unfair and then was like a dog with a bone, pretending to be an investigative journalist of some sort. He truly is a loathsome creature.

That’s the world we live in though. If you post something controversial online as a public figure you’re going to be asked about it.

While it’s very reasonable to ask questions about opinions public figures have expressed publicly, I think it was unfair not to warn her in advance. I don’t believe Kellie Harrington has a prejudiced bone in her body, but she wears her heart on her sleeve and she’s not the first person to react to something she’d seen on social media in a way she mightn’t have if she’d had more time and her statement after it was good.

Equally I believe if he’d pursued a line of questioning like that with Johnny sexton he’d never have worked again.
