Disappointed, but maybe it's better this way before it got stale.
The "Fr. Ted" effect - go out at your absolute peak

But if the show was popular shouldn't the proc to cool for school gang hate it?
I'm confused. I'm going to wait for the Sfi's line on this.
Wow, that's some shock. If they go to RTE they'll be following a well-trodden path - but one that eventually leads to blandness.
The only hope is that it's the four of them - and that the guts of the show will therefore remain intact wherever they go.
They won't be gone to Today FM so that doesn't leave any proper nationwide option within Ireland other than RTE -they're hardly going to an online-only venture. I just can't see it working on "official" RTE though.
Gilroy is OK but the lads brought a whole new approach to sports radio.
Outstanding show - really got inside all the stories. McDevitt is a brilliant anchorman - allowing the other two to flip-flop all over the place. Blew the competition out of the water. As well as the humorous side, they covered the serious stuff too. Nobody has touched them on the Lance Armstrong story over the past two years for example.
Or maybe people take things on their own merits and hate things they think are shit, like the harlem shake, and like things they think are decent, like Off The Ball.

Newstalk's 'Off the Ball' wanted to take an hour off George Hook's show and start at 6 but this was rejected. http://indo.ie/ikD75

Off the Ball team have left Newstalk in Dublin. It's the best football show on radio. Sad if it doesn't reappear in some form.
