You cannot unilaterally adjust an international treaty.

They are getting very poor legal advice and what did not work in 2020 will not work now.

This proposed legislation will never pass or even get through the House of Lords as Boris throws Liz Truss under the £350 million pounds a week bus.

She could resign at some point of course as she knows that this is all just bluster and nonsense raw meat for the extremists (Placating all the wrong people for self-preservation) that will end very badly.

EU response to Liz Truss from Maros Sefcovic:

"Should the UK decide to move ahead with a bill disapplying constitutive elements of the protocol as announced today by the UK government, the EU will need to respond with all measures at its disposal."

The U.K. is now trapped in a self inflicted Brexit humiliation death spiral and all it can do now is to keep waffling on as they are screwed long term.

The first British P.M. to break the law while in office sends his Foreign Secretary to explain how they will break an international treaty that he signed and won an election on after passing it in Parliament.

Proposed British unilateral action through domestic legislation is clearly at odds with Article 4 of the withdrawal treaty which is the U.K.'s agreed international obligation.

There was laughter in the House of Commons as Liz Truss insisted that "we fully respect the Rule of Law."
