missing people

just a general query...

at what stage do the gardai and missingpersons.ie etc stop looking...

theres a piece on breaking news.ie about a missing 16 year old and when i looked at the picture I realized I had seen her face before, turns out she was reported being reported missing just before Christmas, and turned up ok.

at what stage do the Gard's accept its a run away? if indeed it is? (not saying in this case that it is or anything)

I know if your over 18 and tell them your ok they dont have to tell your folks where you are or anything but if your under age do you have to be returned home to your parents or guardians?

I know its a random question just after seeing she's been missing twice in four months made me wonder...

i wouldn't let them out of your basement for a few years yet.

i wont dont worry and ps their not in the basement...

outhouses on a farm with no road frontage...

but im serious looking at trace missing persons has her up on the website again and its mentioned that she went missing before christmas for a day and was found fine.

just wondering at what stage do people realise shes either looking for attention or trying to get out of a bad situation but still wasting alot of resources and time that could be spend looking for people who are actually missing.

i dont doubt she has a problem be that at home or with herself I dont know but im just trying to figure out what happens.

do the gardai step in? do we have a system like that in Ireland?

If its the same person im thinking of, i think she has a habit of going missing from a residential care home, i presume the HSE are obliged to report them missing

Apparently theres a residential unit in glanmire! I suppose they,re not prisoners and if they dont return have to be presumed missing!

makes sense I know the HSE have a duty of care until they are 18 but if she is always "going missing" for whatever reason should it not be investigated and action taken.

Theres a guy in Mallow missing from his foster home aswell this weekend.

I dont get it....

I know i was just looking at the sites page there, people seem to know where he is. Troubled teens never happy with guidelines and rules, and sur any foster parent is going to try their best and set rules,. I honestly dont know what action the Hse take, keep moving them to different foster homes and secure units i suppose. Its sad really

yea I know it prob makes me a bad person but it really bugs me that these kids dont see what a waste of time it is.
I lost one of my friends before Christmas who was missing and eventually found dead, I cant help but think that if these kids saw the pain and suffering caused by actual missing persons and the resources needed to find them that they might think differently.
