Anyone travelling south from Dumplin, be wide. They closed the entire south bound carriageway at Portlaoise and Fermoy at 8pm last night. What should have been a 2.5 hour journey back to Cork took 4 hours as cars were sent through Abbeyleix and Fermoy. This is the fourth closure (in both directions) on the Fermoy section in the last 2 years, one for maintenance, one to rip up the newly laid repairs to lay roadside utilities, one for the building of an electronic sign/gantry plynth and now this cycle of works. What the fuck is going on! Fermoy was chocked with traffic for hours as a result.
The fuckers then had the gall to charge a toll at the toll bridges….they made sure all cars were funnelled back onto the motorways to ensure the toll was paid.
I’m all for maintenance but at least keep a single carriageway open or start works later at night, fucking hell 8pm. Thats still rush hour coming outta dumplin.
