London is really nice at Christmas. Places I would suggest that I go each year are Harrod's, Covent Garden and Oxford Street. The lights in Picadilly Circus are amazing.

Simpsons on the Strand famous for their Christmas day lunch. Have a walk through the empty streets and Hyde Park afterwards!

Other than that, everything pretty much shuts down. Pubs close early on Christmas Eve but some will open for few hours on Christmas morning.

seven dials area near covent garden is lovely..some nice shops and lots of good bars and restaurants round there and covent garden area..marleybone high street is nice too...hyde park and notting hill..some great local boozers round there...stroll the south bank from london bridge to westminster bridge...battersea park is amazing that time of year if you want to venture a bit further out of town and there is a nice new brewery at battersea power station..if you head down that area the kings road in chelsea is only a short stroll across albert bridge..some great pubs in the back streets off kings road too
