Can't say too much due to contracts ects, but the good folks at Random House have permitted to share an excerpt.
The Wall, Volume 1
The most shocking thing about death is often Bluffer's mam. She slipped between dreams and wakefulness, drifting through his final moments. The first lawnmower of summer hummed in the distance. His scent came to her now, stale coffee and luxurious socks. He had been her Icarus. His wings a simple treadmill. His sun, a freak lightning strike. Who could have seen it coming, anyone with a basic knowledge of electrical currents she thought.
Angry now, she saw her hands bashing the wall. Warm and bloody. Flashes of light and dark.
She saw this wall for the first time. Stark, unassuming, ample. This wall was living its best life. “This wall is everything to me right now” she thought.
