He was good. I wouldn't say he was great (all the time) but I wouldn't say he had a particularly nasty streak either.

He was an animal in a good way and a top class player. Tough as nails. I'd have no hooker ahead of him from the 'home nations' in the last 15 years, bar Keith Wood, who was similarly abrasive.
