There was a Mayor of Cork called Gerald Goldberg. He had a firm of solicitors. Not sure if he's related to David Marcus though Slova.
Lee it appears you are correct, Goldberg’s father was met on the Quays by a Marcus welcoming arriving Jews., so they were just acquaintances.

Also Fred Rosehill took over the Marcus business in the 1960s and the daughter Catherine still runs it.
