Isis

ISIS hate Shia Muslims.
ISIS also hate secular muslims, like former dictator Saddam Hussein.
Saudia Arabia hate Shia Muslims.
They also hate secular muslims, like former dictator Saddam Hussein.
Saudia Arabia is our No.1 ally.
Saudia Arabia funds ISIS on the qt.
We toppled a secular muslim leader, in Saddam Hussein.
I think we support ISIS in our actions. It's not a question of whether we should support them; we already do.

Or maybe, just maybe, "we" don't really control what our elected governments get up to.

It is believed the officer corp aka the brains of ISIS is made up of former Saddam loyalists and Republican Guards. Saddam might have projected the image of a secular regime but the power hub of that regime was almost exclusively Sunni Muslim. There were a few token minorities such as Tarik Aziz , but even he changed his name to fit in. Saddam wasn't adverse to playing the Islam card when it suited his ends.

Gangster politician appeals to religious piety of plebian majority to bolster his popularity. Well I never..........

What is your solution to this ISIS carry on?

Of course the Turkish government would not stand by and let this happen. They are already concerned by the Kurdish successes against ISIS.

Indeed, but that deal the yanks worked out with Iran during the week will see the balance of power shift very dramatically in that region. Tehran is going to have a lot of pocket money to clean up it's backyard. Turkey is going to have bigger problems and a far more potent Kurdish problem to worry about.
