Irish Rail

Not enough incentives CC?? ?

You yourself were talking about the attraction of only a 3 hour train journey to Dublin Airport.

What are you not getting about Dublin Airport hitting its max of 30M already
You surely realise that the 30m are not already full ya? If I want to fly to America, Africa or Asia then Dublin is the airport to go to.

And then fall foul of the competition regulator?

Do you know anything at all apart from wanting a train to drive up a long steep hill and that 1.9 million is somehow more than 3.0 million?

That’s the point.

DAA are putting the load emphasis on Dublin Airport to the detriment of the other Airport they’re supposed to be seeing after. They’re right at the max FFS, a maximum they didn’t envisage ever reaching just a few years ago!
They made snn debt free and independent, but snn doesn't have the population to sustain it, whereas they loaded the debt onto Cork and have the boot on their neck, driving traffic to Dublin. They only reason they're letting Cork airport grow now is because of the political stick they're getting about the maxing of Dublin.

That's not the issue. Clearly they're doing that to make Dublin an international hub, especially onwards to the US. Whether Cork ever gets another Transatlantic flight is moot and not relevant, the key issue is the DAA have been pushing European flights, that should be out of Cork, to Dublin airport.

Cork is a second city of the EU and we have an appalling lack of flights to European airports. The best thing that could happen Cork is if the Greens and the nimbys keep opposing further Dublin Airport developments, to at least slow it down.

The choice of flights from Cork is a commercial decision by airlines and little to do with the Greens.
