I was thinking the same tbh.

It’s hard to determine from the report but was the child in the same house/apartment as him or was it a different residence?

Absolutely stupid thing to do without question but from the information available it would appear that it was messing.

Obviously not all the facts are known yet

"The court heard Mr Leela had no connection to the apartment building and lived on the other side of the city."

If he was "just messing" I'd still throw him out of the country without delay and never let him back in under any circumstances.

You'd never lay as much as a finger on a child unknown to you unless it was to protect them from harm in some way.

As far as I can gather, he was leaving a party in the apartment complex. The kids were from a different apartment within the complex.

It would seem to be, but as you say, we need to wait for the trial for full facts.

Ya il hold judgment until I hear the full situation.

Clearly a very serious incident and is rightly being treated as such, from a media perspective I wonder would it be so front and center if it were someone born and bred in Ireland.

They are very quick to report that they can’t identify the person as they know it makes it a spicy story

Fair enough I missed that part.

I also completely agree nobody should ever so much as look at anyone else’s kids

I’m not in any way saying this is not serious situation

This is the nuts & bolts of it, with a rapidly growing economy we need workers from overseas to help support this growth but this what we have a visa system for, best of luck to anyone who wants to come and work here on a visa and build a life for themselves and there families but showing up at ports and airports with no paperwork is completely unacceptable and should be dealt with accordingly.
There's a difference between migratory workers(who come here to work) and those seeking international protection(genuine or not). The latter are not allowed to work for at least 5 months and even then they have to seek permission. They wont be solving any workforce gaps in the market any time soon, well, legally anyway. I'm sure the catering industry is paying plenty into the paw, either out the back bashing pots and pans or out front deliverooing.

I am a coach in my local GAA club with U8S , Recently a girl asked me to tie her lace, I am so consious of guidelines that i backed away and got
one of the women to do it, You can imagine a situation in a club when a coach picks up a kid for "a mess" , he would be out of the club immediately,
You can’t be too careful. A couple of years ago during our summer camp a child asked me where the toilets were. I walked into the dressing room with him (not thinking!!) and showed him where to go. Another coach pulled me aside and gave me a quiet piece of advice about how I’d just left myself open.

I remember years ago, up the top of barrack Street, a kid called me a faggot and started punching and kicking me. He was no more than 8 I'd say. He was a right little scobe. After taking a few strikes from him I grabbed his leg, pulled off his shoe, and put it up on top of a van!
I'm sure by that logic I assaulted a child and should be remanded in custody.

To the kids credit though I probably do look bent.

I’m not sure I’ll ever recover from having read that.

That 8 year old then strolled into the three ones and called a pint,
