Just got renewal quote and it is €850 from Liberty - subsidence area like all of Cork - but this is crazy.

Try AXA on the phone not the online quotes. Or so I was told by someone from Chill.ie of all places. AXA also gave me the same price for 12 monthly DD payments as one up front payment.

Jaysus they must be expecting your house to totally collapse overnight for that. Go the broker route for sure.

Steady on horse. Building costs can be more than the market value of the house. Give them the correct square footage and they'll calculate a demolition, clearance and rebuild off that.

IF you feel it's too little due to you having a high quality build, feel free to increase the insured amount.

@rox - zurich are excellent insurers if it ever comes to crunch time

Very often.
When you buy you also pay for the site. However, if your house burns down, the site is intact.
