Not changing any. But having a motion of no confidence for the first time ever asks a question, why not before now?

Possibly because no previous Commissioner had so alienated such a large swathe of his staff.

Can you please make up your mind - did you want them to have such votes or not? And if not what do you think of those who voted that they have confidence in Harris - were they right or wrong to vote?


BTW, do you think that no matter what the commissioner ever does in the post there should NEVER be a vote of confidence in them - EVER?

6 Reasons why he resigned early is as follows:
1. Political Pressure.
2. His relationship with Alan Shatter and disclosing information to Shatter.
3. The Penalty Points issue that's still talked about today.
4. Poor Relationship with GSOC - Garda Members refusing to co-operate with investigations.
5. Legacy issues and allegations of how Gardai mis-handled cases.
6. He was due to retire the following year. He was due to retire earlier however was given a 2 year extension, only complete 1 year of the extension.

Reasons 3,4 and 5 would have been grounds for a vote however he got out before it got to that.

GRA was left we no choice they tried to talk with Drew Harris but he's digging his feet in and Harris is also dealing with issues 4 and 5 at the moment.

I'll wait for a concrete reply off you to defend Harris again but also try question why a vote of no confidence was brought before. Harris is taking it personal as he stated himself. He can't separate professional and personal and now it's his personal agenda to stay on and continue to make life hell for the gardai that voted against him.

I’m not here to defend Harris at all. But we cannot have a situation where Gardai and their representatives are openly challenging the most Senior Garda in the State in such a public way.
