Gaelic in the Joy. - Pandering to the criminals

If I were a victim of crime I would much prefer to see my attacker having some rehabilitative opportunity than not. Without it, they are far more likely to reoffend on release from prison. Why would any victim of crime want that?
I’m all for rehabilitation but giving them their 15 minutes on national tv as part of Philly and Rory’s self promotion exercise and allowing them to spin their sob stories and redemption stories isn’t rehabilitative, it’s insulting to the victims of their crimes.

Should the dept of justice be trawling done deal for old crt TV's?

"Flat screen TVs"... Ok, boomer. Write to your friends about it on the what's app

Norway’s prison system seems counterproductive, but the data shows that it’s working.

It has one of the lowest recidivism rates in the world, at 20%. In other words, only 20% of those released become repeat offenders in the country.

Norway consistently ranks among one of the safest European countries. Low overall crime rates and one of the lowest homicide rates in the world are both contributing factors.
While not free of crime, most reported criminal offenses are non-violent and with a prison system that emphasizes rehabilitation before punishment, the rate of repeat offenders is one of the lowest across Europe.

You often see fellas with multiple convictions who then turn away from a life of crime described as
inspirational, Great to see them mend their ways but dont congratulate them,

Why always make television about the dregs of society?
Why not about young lawyers, teachers, professionals, sports teams?
Too boring to follow the path of hard work at school/college...job......personal responsibility..........get married and buy a nice house and have a nice family etc.

Why do people read Charles Dickens etc or listen to Joe Duffy, 96FM or Red FM?

Peoples wrong paths in life and sob stories re-badged as "entertainment" for the masses so that they can feel a small bit better about themselves.

(My life may not be amazing but at least I am not in prison)

Well I for one fully believe these recidivist criminals when they look into the camera and tell us they’ve learned from their mistakes and just want to live a normal life.

I’m sure the few weeks kicking a ball with the scummiest GAA player of the last 20 years and the single most unfunny comedian in Ireland will turn these lads lives around and they’ll never visit any harm on another individual again.

Most be lovely for the victims they robbed and assaulted to see these guys running around having the craic and given a platform to spin their redemption bullshit /sob story to the nation.
Spot on re McMahon.
An absolute thug/Scumbag.
His last performance in a Dublin team was him coming on in injury time and causing so much trouble that Mayo got to retake a missed free, they scored it second time around, took the game to extra time and eventually beat the Dubs.
He came on looking about 3 stone overweight and balding. His behaviour on a football pitch was consistently disgusting.
Rory seems a nice guy though.

Michael Martin appears concentrating on the video rather than calling for long sentances.
After a court case where a rap on the knuckles is the outcome Martin will shrug his shoulders and give a lecture on the independence of the courts
