I know there's a framework of fees, it's the lack of competition is the issue and it should be addressed. Volume fees are tendered all of the time in the private sector and they get over all of the stumbling blocks you will mention. Some of the fees paid are outrageous like the fee to the SCs in the Seanie Fitz case for instance. Surely something like that should be tendered? €400k is bananas
a solicitor friend of mine at a wedding in kerry last year received a phone call from the gaurds saying one of his free legal aid clients needed him at a station, this was just as we were sitting down for the meal. He left and drove back to cork to meet this repeat offender and on returning late that night he said to me that he had to go because the prisoner in question was, and i quote "worth too much to him"
