Europe on Lisbon

For all those expats on here who currently reside in the other European countries, have you had recourse to discuss the Lisbon Treaty with the locals? If so what is their attitude to Lisbon and how would they like to see Ireland vote?

Check the wikipedia pages for the different languages. Use Google to translate the pages. Very interesting results. Especially in the comments sections.

Most average Joes in Germany wouldn't even have heard of the Lisbon treaty - as for content, forget it.

The German constitutional court had issues with Lisbon II - pretty much the exact same as the Irish people had - relating to state sovereignty and prevalence of state justice systems etc.

They are satisfied that Lisbon II is not going to destroy Germany or Europe.

There was a long article on the RTE website about it.

Maybe it's still there.

I doubt anyone knows what it is or what it entails. This would probably go for most politicans too.
