Source and Jet Li - two figureheads of the Irish Drum & Bass scene touch down in Limerick on Friday the 26th of October to play the Nu Killa Beats night in the Underground @ Baker Place.Based in Cork City these Dj's are the main men behind the Phase II Recordings record label and the legendary 'Jungle Republic' annual 2 day parties - a festival of sorts for Drum & Bass lovers all over the country. Source and Jet Li are on the road to promote what is one of Ireland's most unique celebrations aswell as the records which are due for release on the Phase II imprint.
It's not easy being a Drum & Bass Dj in Ireland, it's a relatively small scene and the music doesn't get much play on radio or TV stations - nevertheless, the club nights around the country are still busy and there is still a buzz and an enthusiasm for the music, maybe enhanced by the shroud of secrecy that surrounds it. Source and Jet Li are still working to build the scene here and their Jungle Republic weekender (in Killarney, Co. Kerry on Novemeber 16th and 17th) will be a meeting place for the many fans of the music all over the country. Limerick Dj's Code and Leon are on the bill for the weekender as are Dj's from Belfast, Dublin, Derry, Dundalk, Killarney and more.
So, if you want to check out 2 heros of the Irish Drum & Bass scene, come on down to the Underground, Baker Place on Friday. Support on the night comes from Code of Subtle Audio Recordings / Spin South West and Bee, who'll be playing one of the first ever Dubstep sets to be heard within the walls of the city. Dubstep is a sound really making waves in the London at the moment, so check out what all the fuss it about for yourself.
