DJ ZINC at The Savoy, Cork on Thursday 14th June 2007.

After the more than positive reaction to Friction The Savoy continue with the monthly DNB sessions. June 2007 will feature, whether you are Ready Or Not, none other than the Super Sharp Shootin, Bingo bad man DJ ZINC.

In the early 90's Zinc had a residency at now-legendary club Desire and hot slots on pirates Format and Impact FM.

His first solo tune, 1995's Super Sharp Shooter, released on Ganja Records led to Zinc, Pascal and the inimitable DJ Hype setting up True Playaz in 1996.

Since 2000 Zinc has released the majority of his music on his own label, Bingo.

His style of playing all types of dnb within one set is unusual and people often look to him for just that, you never really know what he's going to play, and that uncompromising attitude has seen him voted one of the top 3 dnb DJs for the last 2 years.

Check out http://www.myspace.com/bingozinc for more info.

Support on the night comes from Cork's very own DJ Source!

Doors open at 11pm, admission is 12 euro.

DJ Zinc is renowned for both his skills as a DJ and for the quality of his productions and remixes. He rose to prominence in the period of drum and bass production dominated by the hip-hop-influenced Jump-Up style, although he has continually positioned himself at the cutting edge of the music by embracing a variety of styles in his versatile DJ sets.
He also remains a relative rarity in the drum and bass scene in that his productions outside drum and bass, most notably in the breaks genre under the pseudonym Jammin, are highly popular. Several of his productions have been successful in the UK garage genres, and Zinc's work is also appreciated by Grime artists.
DJ Zinc produces and DJs as part of the Ganja Kru and True Playaz collectives, often in association with friend and mentor DJ Hype. He also runs the Bingo Beats record label, which releases both drum and bass and breaks records. He has also been known to release many records under the alias of Dope Skillz.

Tickets for this show are €12 and are available from www.tickets.ie and Plug'd Records

This one coming on Thursday night. Should be a stormer. Check out the links above for all you need to know about the Super Sharp Shooter himself!

I have to say that I enjoyed the night. Crowd was of similar size to Friction and were 100% up for it.

Zinc played for two hours mixing up styles as he does from sweet vocal rollers to bassline tearouts.

Finished the night off with his own remix of The Prodigy's 'Charly' which Liam Howlett asked him to do and loves but apparently XL Recordings are not into it and it will never be coming out!

Next drum'n'bass gig in The Savoy is on Thursday 19th July 2007 and features the legendary drum'n'bass producer Dillinja.
