I didn't think Hawkins was anything special as a drummer tbh, shocking news all the same.

thought their first 3 records were decent and then the next 2 had a few okay songs but since about 2005 they haven't written a decent song imo. Saw them at 2 festivals (day trip to tipp 97 and slane 2001) and then saw them twice at their own shows which were enjoyable enough. Also saw them play an acoustic show at Sydney opera house which was a great gig. last time was 2008.

Hawkins always came across as a likeable fella and was a decent drummer without being spectacular. 50 is no age and its sad to hear he leaves behind 3 young kids..RIP!

A deeply troubled individual, he hated being Grohl's "drum machine", apparently Grohl is a complete and utter cunt IRL. Hawkins had at least 10 substances in his system including marihuana, antidepressants, opioids and heroine when he died. Another rock & roll overdose, very sad for the children, though he couldn't have been much of a father being a junkie.
