Cyclists

There isn't a legal limit for cycling. So 'failing' a breathalyser misunderstands what that means. You can't fail such a tedt as a cyclist, no more than you can fail a breathalyser test as a pedestrian.
Liam, your licensing idea is impractical, unworkable and pointlessly bureaucratic.
It would cost more lives than it would save, and be a huge waste of government time and money.

You're talking out of your arse, big tone. 'it would cost more lives than it saves, what a stupid statement, how on earth would making cyclists sit an exam so they know the highway code or put them in the cab of a lorry be more dangerous then the current situation? Stupid statement.

As for a waste of time and money, again, bullshit. Make the bikes carry a registration plate and it becomes fine. It would save lives as people would know what they're doing, and would hold them accountable for doing dangerous things like jumping red lights that costs lives

But VED is not road tax, nor does it cover the cost of the roads, even if it were. You do not seem to get that important flaw in your point.

When was the last time a cyclist killed a motorist?
Doesn't happen often, but cyclists regularly damage cars, and motorists have to take evasive action to avoid cyclists which then cause accidents and are put down as the motorist at fault in the statistics
See you clearly no idea.

More than two thirds of all crashes
between drivers and cyclists in Central
London are the fault of the motorist,
research indicates. The City of Westminster Council found
that drivers were to blame for 68 per
cent of collisions between cyclists and
motor vehicles in the borough in the past
12 months. It found that cyclists were at
fault for only 20 per cent. In the
remaining 12 per cent of cases, no cause
could be found or both parties were to
blame.

1 council is not representative of the whole city

Im sorry now Girleen

Under section 4.4 of the road traffic act you musht have a number plate

and those schpokey-dokeys dont look legal either...

You'll have to dishmount your veh-hicle and dishplay your licence or I'll have to impound everything

great idea Liam

you should also suggest that there is an NCT for bicycles since youre at it

Children should not be allowed to cycle on the road in built up areas, full stop. If adults can't do it responsibly, what hope do kids have? Stupidity of a post

Would it reduce accidents? Only by as much as it reduces cycling rates. And cycling has been proven to save more lives through better health than it costs in accidents.

So by reducing cycling rates, it would cost lives

What;s really annoying is when motorists park on footpaths because then cyclists can't cycle down them.

i.e. You're both a bunch of selfish dickwads.

So let me get this straight, you're advocating willful ignorance as a safer option compared to having a little knowledge that would save lives? Wow.
You have seen cars written off in accidents with cyclists?
Seriously?
Describe how that happened.

1) cyclist, at night, wearing dark clothes and a hood, no lights, helmet or high vis, pulled out onto a 40 mph road, without looking, oncoming car had no chance to break, bike went under car, cyclist went over, destroyed the bonnet, A-pillars and roof of car. Complete write off.

2) cyclist jumped red light, car swerved to miss cyclist, went up pavement, killed pedestrian and hit concrete bollard, complete write off. Cyclist never even stopped.
